Consecutiveness is necessary in a vow to fast for one month

Question

Question: Zayd made a vow: “If such-and-such a matter of mine is accomplished, I will keep the fasts of one month.” Should he keep the fasts of this one month consecutively, or may he also keep them with breaks?

Answer

(1) He should keep the fasts of one month consecutively; there is no room for a break in between, because a month is only ever consecutive. Editor’s note (tanbih): This ruling applies when one vows the fasts of a specific month.
