Urinating Near a Grave

Question

If someone urinates and performs istinja (cleansing after relieving oneself) at a distance of one or two gaz (a unit of length, about a yard, ≈ 0.9 m) from the grave of some saintly elder, what is the ruling?

Answer

Urinating or defecating directly on a grave is haram. Greater care should be taken over the graves of the saintly elders of the religion. There is latitude for relieving oneself at a distance from the grave.
