Walking in a Graveyard Wearing Shoes

Question

What is the ruling on going into a graveyard wearing shoes? If the graves are very numerous, may one pass through there or not?

Answer

Making a path over graves is forbidden, whether wearing shoes or barefoot; and walking while avoiding the graves is correct even with shoes on: [ar]والمشي في المقابر بنعلين لا يكره عندنا[/ar] “Walking in graveyards in sandals is not makruh according to us” (thus in al-Siraj al-Wahhaj; Fatawa ‘Alamgiri).
