Going Barefoot in a Graveyard

Question

In some countries it is the custom that when passing through a graveyard one should go barefoot, since passing with footwear is disrespect to the deceased. Please write with the reference and page.

Answer

Walking on top of a grave is disrespect, whether wearing shoes or barefoot; but walking in shoes throughout the graveyard is not disrespect: [ar]كره وطئها بالأقدام[/ar] “Treading on them with the feet is makruh” (Maraqi al-Falah, p. 364).
