Giving Prizes to Students from Madrasa Funds

Question

(1) May the rector of a madrasa give prizes to students from donation money for their diligence? (2) Hazrat Wala, a teacher is needed — one who can teach the intermediate books: “Talkhis”, “Usul al-Shashi”, “Sharh al-Tahdhib” and the like. Besides this, if there is a teacher for the qira’a (Qur’an recitation) class, please let me know. I am forwarding to Hazrat Wala the letter of Mawlawi Muhammad Yusuf Bahraichi which reached this humble one. If you consider it appropriate, then let him be the one engaged.

Answer

(1) Just as stipends may be given to students, likewise prizes may also be given to students from donation money for their diligence and success in examinations. (2) Praise be to Allah, all is well. I have written the answer to the istifta’ (request for a fatwa). Mawlana Muhammad Yusuf has lived there before, and the people there know him.
