Does the Mere Intention to Give a Clock to a Madrasa Make It a Valid Waqf?
Question
A person had formed the intention: “I will make a clock a waqf for the madrasa.” He has not yet brought the clock, and there is a great need for a clock in the mosque, so he said: “Put it in the mosque.” However, a certain hafiz says that one cannot change the intention from the madrasa and now intend it for the mosque. Please therefore clarify this matter: where should the clock be placed?
Answer
By merely intending and resolving, making the clock a waqf for the madrasa does not become binding. He has the right not to give the clock anywhere at all; he also has the right to give it to another madrasa; and he also has the right to give it to the mosque.
