Making Irreligious People Members of the Working Committee
Question
How is it to keep on the working committee of an institution people who criticise the ‘ulama’? How is it to keep on the consultative council people whose appearance is contrary to the Shari‘a and who are not regular in prayer and fasting?
Answer
Those made responsible for a religious institution should be people who are themselves religious, have zeal for the religion and are capable; otherwise the system will not remain sound. And the contempt for the people of knowledge that will arise will, to a large extent, be caused by those very people.
