Reciting Na‘t and Ghazals over the Mosque Loudspeaker
Question
Here, in the local mosque, a loudspeaker was installed for the adhan, but after ʿIsha, every day for three or four hours, people recite na‘t (praise of the Prophet ﷺ), qasidas and ghazals, and they call it a virtuous deed. Because of this, those performing the prayer face considerable difficulty. Should they be doing this? Is this act of theirs permissible or not?
Answer
This practice is not correct; it should be stopped. In it there is a violation of the right of the mosque as well as of those performing the prayer.
