A Political Gathering and the Like in the Mosque
Question
In the town of Jalgaon there is a Jamiʿ Masjid (congregational mosque) which has a committee. The president of the committee, Muhammad Musa, is well-off financially, but in terms of character he is a drunkard and a fornicator; he has obtained a formal liquor permit from the government, and every month liquor worth hundreds of rupees comes to him. Now he has also been elected chairman.
Answer
The president of a mosque committee should be a God-fearing person. The mosque should be kept clean of gatherings of this kind; clapping and noise and clamour of this sort are contrary to the reverence of the mosque.
