Spending the Mosque’s Money on a Madrasa
Question
Zayd was the owner of a piece of land; that land was waqf in the name of the mosque, and its rent kept coming to the mosque for a period. However, when the time came, that house was vacated from the tenant. The mosque workers, who used to collect the rent of that house and spend it on the mosque’s expenses — they, having had (it) vacated from Zayd, gave the land to the mosque workers for building a madrasa without any compensation.
Answer
It is necessary to spend the money of the mosque’s income only on the mosque; spending it on building a madrasa and the like, or on other needs, is not permissible. Those who spent that money on the madrasa are liable.
