The Ruling on a Non-Muslim Building a Mosque
Question
If some non-Muslim, spending his own personal money on the construction of a mosque, puts a roof on it, has its floor made solid and paved and has walls built around it on all four sides, what is the Shar‘i ruling on praying in such a mosque? Please explain and be rewarded.
Answer
A non-Muslim having a mosque built falls under the ruling of a bequest (wasiyya) for a mosque. So if, according to his own belief, he regards it as qurba (an act of drawing near to God) and a meritorious deed, then this is permissible, no defect results from it for the mosque, and praying in it is valid.
