Government Aid for Expanding a Mosque

Question

The new building of a local mosque (the Pakistani Mosque) was completed with public donations from Muslims, but now, because of the large number of worshippers and their increase day by day, the present building of the mosque is entirely insufficient, and the cramped space of the mosque has become a cause of great hardship for the worshippers. Therefore the management committee of this mosque decided that the mosque should be enlarged.

Answer

When the government has mixed permissible and impermissible income and has given money for the mosque from this mixed income, it will not be called haram; taking it and spending it on the mosque is valid according to the Shariʿa. Since mixing (khalt) constitutes consumption (istihlak)
