Selling the Mosque’s Materials

Question

A mosque has been built; its surplus and useless materials, such as some timber and the like, are lying about. May they be sold with the consensus of all the people and the money spent on the mosque’s expenses or not? Kindly write the answer with references to books.

Answer

It is permissible (thus in al-Bahr).
