Selling Mosque Lands for Fear of Their Seizure by Cultivators and Creating a Source of Income with the Proceeds
Question
In the time of the State of Tonk there were revenue-free lands in the name of the Jamiʿ Masjid, the rent of which was collected from the cultivators and went to the expenses of the Jamiʿ Masjid. Now the Government of Rajasthan has fixed an amount of land revenue on the revenue-free lands, which is being paid into the treasury and which the Jamiʿ Masjid has to pay.
Answer
If the situation is indeed so, then these lands should be sold and houses or shops built in exchange for them, over which the mosque will have permanent possession and from which the mosque will keep receiving income.
