Using the materials of one mosque in another mosque

Question

If a mosque has become dilapidated, and its worshippers too no longer remain, and there is also the danger that the common people will defile the place with filth if the mosque’s walls and so on are removed — then in such a case, what is the ruling on selling the mosque’s materials and putting them into another mosque, or building a mosque elsewhere with it?

Answer

If no Muslim population remains there and there is no way of protecting the mosque — neither a lock is of any use nor a boundary wall — then, in view of the said danger, its materials should be transferred to another mosque.
