Giving one’s own son the price of the hide after sacrificing on behalf of a deceased person
Question
Question: A man performs a sacrifice on behalf of a deceased person, and he gives the price of the sacrificial hide to his son, who is studying far away, so that books may be bought with this money; and along with this man money is also given. Is this case permissible or not?
Answer
It is wajib to give this price away as sadaqa, and it is not permissible to give this sadaqa to one’s ascendants and descendants (usul and furu‘). Hence he should give it to someone other than his son. As for the other participants (shuraka’)
