Spending the sacrificial hide on a madrasa

Question: Is it permissible to spend the sacrificial hide on mosques and madrasas or not?

Answer

The price of the sacrificial hide has the same ruling as zakat, because in it too transfer of ownership (tamlik) is fard. [ar]فإن بدل اللحم أو الجلد يتصدق به أي بالبدل لأن القربة انتقلت إلى بدله فيجبر على التصدق به[/ar] “If he exchanged the meat or the hide, he gives it away as sadaqa, i.e. the substitute, because the act of drawing near (qurba)
