Giving the sacrificial hide to a wealthy person
Question
Question: Will it be permissible to give the hide of the sacrificial animal and of the ‘aqiqa as charity to a wealthy scholar or not? And may the scholar, having taken the hide, sell it and spend it or not?
Answer
The hide of the sacrificial animal, the sacrificial meat and the meat of the ‘aqiqa all have one ruling: it is correct for everyone — scholar and non-scholar, rich and poor — to take them, and to give them to everyone; there is no restriction on anyone. However, if the sacrificial hide has been sold, it is wajib to give its price as sadaqa to some poor, needy person (miskin)
