Dividing the meat of the sacrificial animal
Question
Question: If, of the seven shares of a sacrifice, one leg each is put into four, half of the cheeks each into two, and the brain and tongue into one; the whole set of trotters into one share and the whole head into another — then dividing by estimate, and putting the whole head into another — will dividing by estimate in this way be correct or not?
Answer
Dividing in this way is correct. When all of them, with their consent, have given the trotters and cheeks to some poor person, he has the right to use them himself or to sell them and give the money to a madrasa.
