Walima within the sacrifice
Question
Question: Zayd married off his son; on the 11th of Dhu al-Hijja he is holding the walima (wedding feast). In this way he takes one share in the sacrificial animal with the intention of the walima. Is this permitted in the Shari‘a or not? Will the sacrifice not be spoiled?
Answer
By taking a share in a sacrificial animal with the intention of the sunna one (masnuna), no one’s sacrifice will become invalid — just as it does not become invalid by taking a share with the intention of ‘aqiqa (“Shami”, vol. 5, p. 207).
