How to bring a conditional attachment (ta‘liq) to an end

Question

Zayd says to Bakr that if you Amr — about Amr, who is absent and with whom he is angry over some matter — in a state of anger he says: “اگر میں نے عمر کو لاٹھیاں نہ ماریں تو مجھ پر تین طلاق سے عورت حرام ہے” (“If I do not beat Amr with sticks, then my wife is forbidden to me by three talaqs”).

Answer

In the case asked about, Zayd is obliged to beat Amr with sticks; if he does not beat him, talaq will take effect on his wife. And since he did not fully fix the time, he may do so at any time during his life; if he does not do it, talaq will be ruled at the very last moment. He also did not specify the sticks, i.e.
