Revoking a conditional talaq
Question
Zayd, having become angry at a maternal uncle and a maternal aunt of his wife Hinda over something they said, made talaq conditional on speaking with the two of them. What is the ruling in each case — if he made one talaq, two talaqs or three talaqs conditional? And will talaq take effect upon speaking with either one of the two, or upon speaking with both?
Answer
As many talaqs as he made conditional, that many will take effect when the condition is fulfilled: that is, if he made one talaq conditional, it will be one; if he made two conditional, it will be two; if he made three conditional, it will be three.
