Praying without ghusl because time is running out
Question
(1) If someone has a nocturnal emission (ihtilam), and if he performs ghusl the prayer will be missed (become qada’), may he cleanse himself with istinja’, pray, and perform ghusl afterwards — will the prayer be valid or not? (2) If at night, after finishing intercourse, a person washes with water the part of his body soiled with impurity, and in the morning performs istinja’ and prays — because otherwise the prayer would be missed — and then performs ghusl, will the prayer be valid? (3)
Answer
(1) Ghusl is obligatory; it is not permissible to abandon it because time is short and suffice with istinja’ — the prayer will not be valid that way. (2) The answer to this has been given in (1). (3) His prayer did not take place; repeating it is obligatory.
