Is it necessary to perform wudu before the ghusl of janaba?

Question

(1) When performing ghusl in the state of janaba, may ghusl be performed before wudu as well, with wudu done after finishing ghusl, or is it obligatory in every case to perform wudu before ghusl? If Zayd, having performed wudu, began ghusl, and before finishing it his wudu was broken by passing wind — must he first perform wudu again and then perform ghusl anew from the beginning, or may he first complete the whole ghusl and then, having performed wudu again, pray? (2)

Answer

The sunna method is to perform wudu first and then ghusl. If wind is passed after wudu, and then during ghusl water is poured over the limbs of wudu, that too is sufficient; a separate wudu is not needed. (2) His wudu was not broken; even if someone’s gaze had happened to fall on him, the wudu still would not have been broken.
