Reciting Du'a during Ghusl

Question

What should be recited when performing ghusl after intimacy in order to remove the impurity? Is it permissible to recite the kalima of the religion or not?

Answer

Nothing should be recited — neither the kalima nor anything else; the ghusl should be performed silently. [ar]ويستحب أن لا يتكلم بكلام معه ولو دعاء؛ لأنه في مصب الأقذار[/ar] “It is recommended (mustahabb) not to utter any speech during it, even a du'a, because he is in the place where filth flows off” (Maraqi al-Falah).
