The Ruling on the Bucket, Rope, etc. When an Impure Well Is Purified
Question
It is written in some books that if the people of the neighbourhood draw water, the well becomes pure. What needs to be ascertained is this: people draw water standing on the rim of the well, and with the very hands [with which they carried] the earlier water they took home they come back and draw again. Is this excused (‘afw)?
Answer
For the time being the clay pitcher, the bucket, the hands and so on are all impure, and once the amount that is obligatory to draw out (miqdar wajib al-nazh) has been drawn, the ruling of purity will apply.
