How Is a Vessel Used by a Chamar Purified?
Question
A cooking cauldron belongs to the common property of the village. It was given to the Chamars (an Indian caste of leatherworkers, regarded as low); these Chamars cooked food in it and used it. What is the ruling concerning it now? Should it be retinned and [then] used, or may it simply be put on the fire, washed and scoured, and used?
Answer
There is no need to retin it again; it is sufficient simply to wash and scour it, purifying it [in this way].
