Having Clothing Cleaned with Petrol
Question
A man had a suit made for five hundred rupees; he is regular in fasting and prayer. On the way back from the office, a cow splashed urine [on it] with its tail, or some child urinated on it. How is this suit now to be purified? If he has it washed with water, the five-hundred-rupee suit is ruined, since it is woollen cloth; and if he has it dry-cleaned, the najasa is not removed, since the substances used in dry-cleaning, such as petrol and the like, do not remove najasa.
Answer
The impure splashes that have fallen on it can also be removed with petrol. Have it washed with petrol, and it will become pure.
