The Ruling on the Vomit of a Nursing Infant
Question
A nursing infant keeps vomiting after feeding. Does his vomit fall under the definition of a mouthful of vomit or not? If the vomit gets on the body or clothes, can prayer be performed or not?
Answer
When a small child vomits, his own mouth is taken into account: if it is a mouthful, its ruling is the same as that of a mouthful of vomit of an adult. If it gets on the body or clothes, it is impure and purifying it is necessary. If it amounts to the size of a dirham, purifying it before prayer is necessary; otherwise the prayer will not be valid.
