A Well Became Impure and Non-Muslims Drew Out Its Water — Does This Make the Well Pure?
Question
(1) Two roosters fought and fell into a well. One was taken out alive, while the other died and was taken out the next day. It was known that the water had to be drawn out, but because a fire broke out in the house of a non-Muslim, the water was not fully drawn out of it; other Hindus, meanwhile, began filling [their vessels with] water immediately upon the rooster being taken out. Will the well become pure through non-Muslims drawing out the water or not? (2) Is intention (niyya)
Answer
(1), (2) When a well becomes impure, whatever amount of water it is wajib to draw out (all of it or part of it) — if a Muslim or a non-Muslim draws out that much water, with whatever intention, the well will become pure. And thereafter it will be proper for a Muslim to use it.
