The Method of Purifying a Pool and a Drum
Question
If the water of a pool or of a large drum becomes impure (najis), does [the container] become pure once the impure water has been poured out, or will it have to be washed? If the ruling is to wash it, how many times must it be washed? And if the pool dries out and the impurity (najasa) disappears, may water be poured into the pool without washing it or not?
Answer
The drum should be washed; one should not be content with merely pouring out the impure water. As for the pool, it should be filled until the water wells up and overflows on all sides and becomes flowing.
