Does a Bucket Become Impure When Lowered into an Impure Well?

Question

(1) A monkey defecated in a well. Before it was purified, a man drew water from it out of need; then all of its water was drawn out with another bucket, not with that bucket and rope. Now what needs to be asked is: may that bucket and rope, which have already dried in the sun, be used without washing them, or not? And does this ruling apply to both kinds of impurity, or only to heavy impurity? (2) Please also clarify: after heavy or light impurity falls in, does the water become heavy impurity or light?

Answer

It is not correct to use that bucket and rope without purifying them: the impure water has made them impure, and now, to purify them, it is necessary to wash them with water; drying is not sufficient. The ruling of light and heavy impurity is one and the same with respect to water.
