In the Expiation for a Fast: Must the Sixty Poor Be the Same at Both Meals or May They Differ?

Question

In the kaffara (expiation) for a fast, are sixty miskins (poor people) to be fed twice (day and night), or are thirty to be fed twice so as to complete the sixty? Also, must those who eat at both meals be the same people, or may there be some during the day and others at night?

Answer

Sixty miskins are to be fed to their fill twice, and at both meals they must be the same people.
