An Easy Way of Discharging the Expiation for Fasting
Question
If the resident students of a religious madrasa cannot eat the food of the kaffara for fasting, and other poor people are the deserving ones, it will be difficult to distinguish among them who is truly poor (miskin) and who is a professional beggar. Moreover, gathering them at one time will be difficult, and sixty even more so. This difficulty will increase further if there is the condition of feeding at both mealtimes — that the poor be the same ones who ate in the morning.
Answer
Feeding sixty such poor people twice in a madrasa is not difficult. An even easier way is to designate one poor person and to invite him and feed him at both mealtimes; when he has eaten for sixty days (one hundred and twenty meals) in succession, the kaffara will be discharged.
