Continuity Is Required in the Expiation for a Fast

Question

A person fasted fifty-nine fasts of kaffara (expiation) consecutively, and on the day he was to keep the sixtieth fast he fell ill. Should he fast sixty days all over again, or, after recovering, fast only one day?

Answer

He should fast sixty consecutive days again.
