Making a Twofold Dua a Fixed Practice in the Five Daily Prayers
Question
The request is as follows: kindly set out clearly the solution of the following questions from the books of hadith, according to the Hanafi way, with proofs and evidence — may you be rewarded by Allah and thanked by the people. What do the scholars of the religion and the muftis of the firm Shari‘a say regarding this issue: the imam, without missing a day, makes dua twice in the five daily prayers — first after performing the fard, and second after completing the sunna.
Answer
Dua in itself is commanded unconditionally, and after the prayer it is especially linked with acceptance; its virtue is reported abundantly in the hadiths. However, making dua twice, as the questioner has described, is not established from the centuries whose goodness has been attested; it is mentioned nowhere in the reliable books of hadith and fiqh.
