Completing the Recitation of the “Ayat-e Karima” after Fajr in Times of General Unrest

Question

When unrest becomes widespread and the lives and property of the Muslims are threatened by others, what should the Muslims do in such a situation? In some mosques here there is a custom that after the Fajr prayer people are held back, and in this collective form everyone recites the “Ayat-e Karima” on fruit-stones: [ar]لَّآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنتَ سُبْحَـٰنَكَ إِنِّى كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ[/ar] “There is no god but You! Glory be to You! Truly, I have been among the wrongdoers” (Surah al-Anbiya’, 21:87)

Answer

At a time of general calamity, when unrest spreads and, because of killing and plunder, life, property and children are not safe, reciting the qunut al-nazila is established by hadith and fiqh. The practice of the “Ayat-e Karima” is also beneficial and tried and tested. Repentance and istighfar should be made abundantly.
