What is the ruling if a travelling imam prayed in full?
Question
Mawlana Azad, a khalifa of Hazrat Raipuri ﵀, had come; he mistakenly prayed the full Zuhr prayer, although he was performing qasr. Will the prayer now be valid or not? Afterwards he also made an announcement [about it].
Answer
If, having sat (qa‘da) after two rak‘as, he stood up forgetfully and completed four rak‘as, the fard has been fulfilled — both the imam’s and that of the travelling followers — but repeating (i‘ada) is obligatory (lazim) within the time, and after the time has passed repeating is not obligatory. As for the followers who were residents (muqim)
