The prayer of one who is always travelling

Question

There are many government employees who have to cover fifty miles daily to get to their office. Will such a person become a traveller, and may he shorten the prayer (qasr)? If he may, then, as it were, he will remain a traveller for the whole period of his employment?

Answer

When he goes from his house to the office for his employment, he will shorten on the way; and as long as he has no intention of staying at least fifteen days at the place of employment — whether he intends to return the same day or after a day or two — he will still only shorten, even if his whole life passes in this state. And Allah, Glorified and Exalted, knows best.
