When is a person considered sahib al-tartib?
Question
After reaching puberty, Zayd missed the prayer of one or two times — intentionally or unintentionally, out of negligence or because of an excuse. In this situation, will he be regarded in the Shari‘a as sahib al-tartib (one bound to observe the order), and will the subsequent prayers be valid until he makes it up? And if after puberty he did not pray, and after some period during which he was mukallaf (legally responsible)
Answer
Order among the five fard prayers and witr is binding (lazim) and necessary — both in ada' and in qada'. Order does not lapse because the prayer of one or two times has been missed. Therefore, for a sahib al-tartib who has one missed prayer due upon him, it is not valid to perform the prayer of the current time (waqtiyya)
