Praying the current prayer while a qada' prayer remains due

Question

Zayd missed the ‘Asr prayer. He performed the Maghrib prayer in congregation, then he performed the missed ‘Asr. Must he now perform the Maghrib prayer again?

Answer

If he is sahib al-tartib (bound to observe the order) and he also remembered that the ‘Asr prayer was due upon him as qada', then he should now first perform the ‘Asr prayer, then perform the Maghrib prayer again, and then, when the time of the ‘Isha' prayer comes, the ‘Isha' prayer.
