If a sahib al-tartib would miss Jumu‘a by performing qada’

Question

If a sahib al-tartib (one for whom observing the order between missed and current prayers is obligatory) performs the qada’, the Jumu‘a [prayer] will be missed. In this case, according to the preponderant (rajih) view, should he first perform the qada’ or the Jumu‘a?

Answer

The sahib al-tartib should first perform the qada’; then, if he can catch the Jumu‘a, that is better; otherwise he should pray Zuhr.
