The difference between a qada’ and an ada’ prayer
Question
Is there any difference between qada’ and ada’ or not? If there is, how much? For example, someone performed the qada’ prayer of four times in the fifth time, or someone performed the qada’ prayers of eight times in the ninth time.
Answer
A prayer that is performed in its time is ada’, and one that is performed after its time is qada’. For the sahib al-tartib (one bound to observe the order) observing the order is binding (lazim): when a qada’ prayer is due upon him and there is also room in the time, it is not valid to perform the prayer of the current time (waqtiyya).
