How to make up the witr prayer

Question

A person has outstanding ‘Isha’ prayers, that is, they were missed over several years. Should he now make up both the fard and the witr of the ‘Isha’ prayer, or make up only the fard prayers? If he makes up the witr, how should he make the niyya for it?

Answer

He should make up the witr as well; and just as in the fard he makes the niyya for the first fard or the last fard, so in the witr he should make the niyya for the first witr or the last witr.
