Should one recite juz’ “‘Amma” or “Alam tara kayfa” in tarawih?
Question
If a person has memorized only the thirtieth juz’ of the Qur’an (juz’ “‘Amma”), and he wishes in tarawih to recite and make heard as imam every day only that one juz’ which the gentleman has memorized — is it better to recite the same juz’ every day in this way, or should the tarawih prayer be performed with “Alam tara kayfa”? Kindly write [the answer], since not even a week remains until blessed Ramadan; and in this place there are also other well-known mosques where a khatm of the Qur’an takes place.
Answer
Compared with “Alam tara kayfa”, it is better (afdal) to recite the complete thirtieth juz’ every day. Completing the whole noble Qur’an in tarawih is sunna.
