Qada’ of tahajjud and audible recitation in nafl prayer
Question
If tahajjud is missed and [a person] prays some nafl rak‘as during the day in its place, may he also hold a congregation for these nafl prayers or not, and may he also recite aloud (jahran) or not?
Answer
He should pray twelve nafl rak‘as before zawal; in sha’ Allah, the tahajjud will be made up for. A congregation [for them], as for a fard prayer, is not correct. Praying nafl during the day with audible recitation is makruh. Thus it is in “al-Kabiri”, [p.] 574.
