The tahajjud congregation and the meaning of tada‘i
Question
If someone in Ramadan recites the whole Noble Qur’an in order in the tahajjud prayer, may the tahajjud prayer be performed in congregation or not? You wrote in reply to this that the tahajjud prayer may be performed in congregation in Ramadan, but there should be no tada‘i (calling one another together). (1) Please explain clearly what tada‘i means. (2) If in the prayer (?)
Answer
(1) If there is one imam and behind him one or two muqtadis, it is correct without any difficulty. If there are three muqtadis, there is still room (for permissibility). If there are more muqtadis than that, this is precisely tada‘i. (2) Even without invitation and announcement, this case is [a case] of tada‘i. (3)
