The Prayer When Verses Are Omitted by Forgetfulness

Question

A person in the prayer adds a sura after Surah al-Fatiha, and after reciting one verse he forgets, then skips three or four verses and moves on. In this way he recited three or more than three verses at the beginning and at the end, while in the middle he forgot three verses. What is the ruling?

Answer

This does not make the sajda al-sahw (prostration of forgetfulness) wajib. If he ended his breath on a verse and, with a new breath, recites what comes after three or four verses, the prayer will not become fasid (invalid) because of it.
