The prayer of one given to abusive language

Question

Zayd is regular in fasting and prayer, but abuse is constantly on his tongue. Will there be a defect in the prayer and fasting of a person with this vile trait?

Answer

Despite this vile trait, the prayer, the fast — whatever is performed in the manner of the Shari‘a — will be discharged. The vileness of this trait is [stated] in the hadith.
