Praying when there is no urge to pass wind
Question
A person, after performing wudu, had a doubt about passing wind, or felt the urge, but deliberately did not release the wind; then the wind spread inside the body, causing a heaviness in the head. After that, thinking that the urge was no longer there, he began to pray or to lead the prayer; then, in the middle of the prayer, the urge to pass wind arose. Should he now complete the prayer or end it with the salam? And was the prayer valid with the course he adopted after wudu, or not?
Answer
Once the urge to pass wind ended — for whatever reason — it became permissible for him to pray and to lead the prayer without any karaha (dislike). Then, if in the middle of the prayer the urge becomes so strong that a state of holding back (mudafa‘a) arises, he should break off the prayer, and after releasing the wind and renewing his wudu, pray it again.
